TACTICAL SUPPLY DEPOT’S “PUNISHER” PIVOT PIN SET - REVIEW

ADD A LITTLE CUSTOM AWESOMENESS TO YOUR BUILD

Lock-N-Load Blog ordered a set of Tactical Supply Depot’s Punisher Takedown Pin Set specifically for review for my fans/followers, AR-15 builders and enthusiasts. Being that I already owned a “Punisher” engraved Spike’s Tactical Lower Receiver, I used this set to match the engraving and give my AR-15 a custom look. These takedown pins fit very well and operate with little or no effort. It definitely makes my AR-15 stand out and the Punisher pins add to the awesomeness!

The pins were not as heavy duty as I expected and the finish was bright and glossy. When I build an AR-15, I like for all the parts to match the finish on my rifle. Most finishes on the AR-15 receivers are a “matte” and unfortunately the pins were more of a glossy finish. They did install very easily (with the right Brownells tools of course) and push in and out easily.

The “Punisher” emblems appear to have been stamped on the face of the takedown pins, rather than sprayed. At a closer look, this caused the Punisher skulls to be slightly blurred and grainy. Not a huge deal, but details are everything when building a custom AR-15. Other than that, they look great and match up well with my receiver!

For installation of any take down pins, I would recommend both the Brownells Pivot Pin Detent Tool (for ease of installation) and the Pivot Pin Detent Depressor (for removal of old pins). I used both tools and installation literally took less than 5 minutes. Be careful that during the removal of the old pins that you capture the spring before taking the pin out completely. Otherwise your spring and detent will launch at the speed of sound across the room.

All in all, If you want your rifle to truly look custom, go with a set of the TSD pins. They offer several different symbols on their takedown pins including the bio-hazard symbol, the word “Infidel”(with American and Arabic script), the American flag and of course, the Punisher logo. Although there were several little things I think could be improved upon, I would still recommend these pins for your custom build. Have fun, be safe and shoot on!
